Hey everyone, it's Rhonda here. I was diagnosed with depression in 2009. That was the year my mommy passed away. I lost my daddy in 2010 but in reality much before that when he was diagnosed with dementia. These two people were my life; I have no children, so they were "my family" and I loved them with every fiber of my being. Losing them was the hardest thing I have experienced in my whole life and totally knocked the wind out of my sails. Depression is something I battle with on a daily basis so trust me when I say, I know it's one tough opponent. I am very lucky in that I have an amazing family and good friends who are a great support to me, but I realize that most people who suffer from depression need other forms of help.
The mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of others is important to both Ricky and me. That is why we have started the 1% for well-being initiative. We pledge to give 1% of our gross income to charities that support well-being in its many forms.
